Major General Anurag Vij Appointed ADG of NCC Directorate for Northeast Region
Major General Anurag Vij has been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate for the North Eastern Region. This significant role involves overseeing the youth development and leadership training efforts of the world's largest uniformed youth organization across eight northeastern states.
A Distinguished Military Career
Commissioned into the esteemed Regiment of Artillery in 1990, Major General Anurag Vij's career is marked by his education at some of India's most prestigious military academies, including the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, and the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad.
With a career spanning over 35 years, Major General Vij has served with notable distinction in the Indian Army, holding numerous key command, staff, and instructional positions nationwide. His career reflects a strong dedication to operational excellence, leadership, and mentorship.
Leadership Across Key Operations and Commands
Throughout his service, Major General Vij has displayed his tactical expertise and leadership by commanding an artillery regiment and two Artillery Brigades. His extensive operational experience includes participation in critical military operations such as Operation Rakshak, Operation Vijay, Operation Parakram, and Operation Meghdoot, emphasizing his strategic contributions to India's defense capabilities.
Before his current role, he served as the General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Maharashtra & Goa Sub Area, Pune. In this capacity, he was instrumental in enhancing operational readiness, fostering civil-military cooperation, and initiating welfare programs for both current personnel and veterans.
