Maj Gen Sarabjit Singh Bakshi Reviews NCC Cadet Training at Kamptee Camp
Major General Sarabjit Singh Bakshi, SM, VSM, Commandant of the NCC Officers Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee, visited the ongoing Combined Annual Training Camp of 2 Maharashtra Artillery Battery NCC at the academy, where he reviewed cadet training and interacted with the officers and instructors conducting the programme.
During the visit, Maj Gen Bakshi observed cadets participating in a range of activities aimed at building physical fitness, leadership, discipline and teamwork. He was briefed by the Camp Officer-in-Charge on how the camp was being conducted and on the different training modules being undertaken by the cadets as part of the annual camp schedule.
The Commandant’s visit also included interaction with Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and the instructor staff responsible for running the camp. The engagement served as an opportunity to assess the training environment and to understand the efforts being made by the instructional team to ensure cadets receive structured and professionally organised exposure.
Addressing the cadets, Maj Gen Bakshi spoke about the core values that underpin the National Cadet Corps, stressing the importance of discipline, leadership, character, teamwork and selfless service. He said these qualities are central to shaping young people into confident and responsible citizens.
He urged the cadets to make full use of the opportunities available at the camp and to strive continuously for excellence. In his interaction, he encouraged them to build a strong sense of responsibility, confidence and commitment, and to carry forward the values instilled through NCC training into their future roles.
The Commandant also highlighted the importance of teamwork and collective effort, noting that such qualities are not confined to military settings but are equally important in professional and civic life. He encouraged cadets to support one another and to develop the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
The Combined Annual Training Camp is designed to give cadets structured practical exposure beyond classroom-based learning. According to the details shared during the visit, the camp helps participants develop discipline, leadership and resilience through group-based training and supervised activities, making it an important component of the broader NCC training framework.
Maj Gen Bakshi told the cadets that the lessons and values acquired through NCC should not remain limited to the training environment. He urged them to emerge as confident, responsible and committed citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to society and the nation, and said that the principles learned during NCC training should guide them in both their personal and professional lives.
The visit reflected the NCC’s continued emphasis on youth development and nation-building through the cultivation of leadership, character, discipline and a spirit of selfless service among young citizens.
