Maiden Salvo Launch of NASM-SR Missiles Achieved by DRDO and Indian Navy

The Defence Research and Development Organisation, in collaboration with the Indian Navy, has achieved the first successful salvo launch of the NASM-SR from a naval helicopter off the coast of Odisha.

First-Ever Salvo Launch

Marking a significant advancement, two missiles were launched in rapid succession from the same helicopter. This test demonstrated the air-launched anti-ship system's salvo capability and confirmed its precision in striking maritime targets.

Enhancing Naval Combat Power

The NASM-SR is engineered to target enemy vessels at close range. It is designed for deployment from naval helicopters, thereby bolstering India's anti-surface warfare capabilities.

Parallel Breakthrough in Warship Design

In another stride forward, the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory of DRDO, alongside the Navy's Warship Design Bureau, has completed a hydrodynamic performance evaluation for a key warship project. This involved advanced CFD simulations and model testing to assess resistance, propulsion, maneuverability, and sea-keeping. The outcomes align with top global standards in terms of accuracy and reliability.

Boost to Indigenous Defence Capability

The findings were officially presented to naval officials by Samir V Kamat, supporting India's initiative towards self-reliance in defense production, known as Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Towards Self-Reliant Naval Power

These achievements reflect India's advancing expertise in indigenous missile systems, sophisticated naval design and engineering, and comprehensive maritime warfare solutions.
