Lt Gen VMB Krishnan Marks Trinity Area’s First Raising Day at Bengdubi, Dedicates New Facilities

Eastern Command Army Commander Lt Gen VMB Krishnan visited Headquarters Trinity Area at Bengdubi to mark its First Raising Day, using the occasion to dedicate new facilities and meet personnel stationed at the military garrison.

The visit combined ceremonial observance with a focus on infrastructure and welfare. During the event, three newly constructed facilities were formally dedicated to the Bengdubi Military Garrison: the Station Gymnasium, Prerana Sthal and the auditorium of Army Public School Bengdubi.

The addition of these facilities reflects the Army’s continuing emphasis on strengthening station-level infrastructure and improving the quality of life for personnel and their families. In a military garrison, such assets are not limited to convenience alone; they also support morale, community life and the wider institutional environment in which troops and dependents live and work.

The Station Gymnasium is expected to provide dedicated space for physical training and conditioning, both of which are central to military preparedness. Fitness remains a core requirement for soldiers, whose operational readiness depends on endurance, strength and sustained performance in demanding conditions.

Prerana Sthal was also dedicated as part of the First Raising Day programme. The Army’s post did not offer further details on the design or intended use of the site, but its inauguration formed a part of the commemorative activities at Bengdubi.

The Army Public School Bengdubi auditorium was also handed over to the garrison. Educational infrastructure in military stations serves a dual purpose, supporting the academic needs of children from service families while also providing a community space for the defence ecosystem attached to the station.

After the dedication ceremony, Lt Gen Krishnan interacted with personnel of all ranks during a Special Sainik Sammelan at Bengdubi. The gathering gave him an opportunity to speak directly with troops and acknowledge their contribution to preserving the standards and traditions of the Indian Army.

During the Sammelan, the Army Commander exhorted all ranks to continue upholding the highest standards of the force. The interaction highlighted themes of professionalism, discipline and commitment to duty, which remain central to the Army’s internal culture and operational effectiveness.

The Sainik Sammelan is an established forum for communication between senior commanders and soldiers. It allows leadership to convey priorities directly to troops while also giving personnel a chance to raise concerns and engage with the chain of command.

Lt Gen Krishnan also held a special conclave with Subedar Majors at Bengdubi. The meeting brought together senior junior-commissioned leadership from the formation and provided a separate platform for discussion with those who serve as a crucial link between commanders and soldiers.

Within the Army’s regimental and unit structures, Subedar Majors play an important role in maintaining discipline, cohesion, soldier welfare and communication. Their close understanding of day-to-day unit issues makes engagement with senior leadership especially relevant.

The First Raising Day of Trinity Area, therefore, was more than a ceremonial milestone. It also served as a moment to spotlight new infrastructure, reinforce welfare priorities and strengthen interaction between leadership and personnel at Bengdubi.

Bengdubi Military Garrison is located in the strategically significant eastern region and forms part of the Army’s infrastructure supporting its presence there. The occasion provided an opportunity to recognise the formation’s journey while reaffirming the importance of professionalism and service among its personnel.

The visit also reflected the Eastern Command leadership’s direct engagement with formations under its command. Such interactions with troops and senior regimental leaders are an important part of maintaining cohesion, communicating command priorities and keeping the chain of leadership closely connected to the field.

Together, the Station Gymnasium, Prerana Sthal and Army Public School Bengdubi auditorium add to the facilities available at the garrison. They represent investments in physical fitness, shared spaces and educational infrastructure for the military community.

As Trinity Area marked its First Raising Day, the occasion brought together formation-level commemoration, new infrastructure, troop interaction and engagement with senior leadership.
