Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera Reviews Operational Readiness of Zokhawsang Battalion in Mizoram
On May 24, 2026, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of the Assam Rifles, conducted a visit to the Zokhawsang Battalion located in Mizoram to assess the unit's operational readiness and functionality.
Throughout his visit, the Director General lauded the battalion for its diligent efforts in the development of the Zokhawsang garrison. He expressed appreciation for the professionalism, dedication, and operational effectiveness demonstrated by the troops.

Additionally, Lt Gen Lakhera inaugurated the Vijender Singh Institute, a facility aimed at improving the welfare and morale of the troops. He urged personnel to make full use of the available resources for recreation, bonding, and enhancing camaraderie within the battalion.
The Director General also praised the battalion’s success in anti-narcotics operations and the recovery of war-like stores in Mizoram, emphasizing the importance of the force's role in ensuring security and stability in the area.

During his interaction with students and faculty at the Bevela Lushai Centre, Lt Gen Lakhera commended the institution as a beacon of hope for the youth of Mizoram and acknowledged the bravery and contributions of the Mizo people in nation-building.

This visit highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Assam Rifles to maintaining operational preparedness, ensuring troop welfare, engaging with the community, and coordinating efforts to combat illegal activities in the Northeast region.
