Lt Gen Rajiv Kumar Sahni Assesses EME Preparedness and Technological Advancements at Kharga Corps
Lt Gen Rajiv Kumar Sahni, AVSM, VSM, PhD, who serves as the Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DGEME) and Colonel Commandant, recently visited the Kharga Corps to evaluate the operational preparedness and technological advancements of the EME. His visit also focused on assessing ongoing initiatives aimed at sustaining these efforts.
During his inspection, Lt Gen Sahni received detailed briefings about the Corps' initiatives to improve equipment reliability, refine maintenance processes, and incorporate advanced technology into field operations. He engaged with EME personnel, acknowledging their professionalism and dedication to maintaining mission readiness.

A significant aspect of his visit was the evaluation of the Kharga Corps Drone Hub, where local projects on drone development and fabrication are in progress. The DGEME praised the team's innovative methods in enhancing drone technology designed for tactical and logistical applications. He commended their efforts towards indigenisation, innovation, and achieving self-sufficiency in line with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
The visit highlighted the Indian Army's focus on developing capabilities and fostering self-sustaining technological ecosystems. Lt Gen Sahni's encouragement reinforced the EME's crucial role in ensuring operational success and combat readiness across various formations.
