Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh Reviews Tiger Division’s Operational Readiness, Indigenous Innovations

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM**, Army Commander, Western Command, visited the Tiger Division of Rising Star Corps to review its operational preparedness and assess how quickly and decisively the formation can respond to emerging contingencies.

The visit focused on the division’s readiness across the full spectrum of military operations. Lt Gen Singh was briefed on measures being taken to sustain combat effectiveness and on the formation’s ability to remain agile in the face of evolving operational challenges.

During the interaction, the Army Commander stressed that sustained combat readiness, adaptability and mission effectiveness remain essential for any formation operating in a changing security environment. He emphasised that troops must stay prepared for emerging contingencies while continuing to maintain high standards of training, operational discipline and battlefield preparedness.

He also underlined the need for formations to keep evolving in step with the contemporary operational environment. According to the message conveyed during the visit, flexible capabilities are vital if troops are to operate effectively across diverse and rapidly changing operational scenarios.

A major feature of the visit was an innovation display put up by the formation, showcasing indigenous and field-optimised solutions conceptualised by troops themselves. The ideas on display were developed to address contemporary operational challenges and to improve the effectiveness of soldiers serving in demanding conditions.

The display highlighted the resourcefulness of Indian Army personnel in identifying problems at the field level and developing practical responses using indigenous technologies and in-house expertise. Several of the solutions were aimed at improving battlefield efficiency and strengthening operational capabilities.

Lt Gen Singh appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the troops’ efforts in using technology and innovation to meet operational requirements. The formation’s approach reflects the Army’s growing focus on drawing from battlefield experience and technological solutions to improve combat capability.

The initiative also aligns with the ethos of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by encouraging indigenous solutions and reducing dependence on externally sourced capabilities wherever feasible. By promoting field-level innovation, the formation is enabling soldiers to contribute directly to capability development based on their operational experience.

At the end of the visit, Lt Gen Singh commended the formation for maintaining high standards of operational preparedness and for fostering a culture of innovation among its personnel. He encouraged continued efforts in technology absorption, adaptability and capability enhancement.

The visit also reflected Western Command’s continuing emphasis on keeping combat-ready formations prepared for emerging security challenges while encouraging indigenous innovation to strengthen battlefield effectiveness and future operational readiness.
