Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh Engages with IIT Kanpur to Enhance Indian Army's Technological Capabilities

Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, who serves as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, paid a visit to the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to explore potential partnerships for advancing the technological modernization of the Indian Army.

Throughout his visit, discussions centered on the utilization of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and electronic warfare. These are seen as critical for bolstering indigenous defence capabilities and meeting the Army's evolving operational needs.

The Vice Chief examined key research facilities such as the Helicopter & VTOL Laboratory, UAV Laboratory, and C3iHub. These centers highlighted the latest advancements in drone technology and cybersecurity solutions. Lt Gen Singh commended IIT Kanpur for its persistent efforts in developing specialized technologies that have significant defense applications.

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh expressed optimism that ongoing collaboration between the Army and academic institutions would yield innovative, homegrown solutions, enhancing both operational efficiency and self-reliance.

The visit underscored IIT Kanpur’s increasing influence in defense innovation and its expanding partnership with the Indian Army, aimed at building future-ready capabilities through research, development, and collaboration.
