Lt Gen Pratik Sharma Assesses Security Operations in Poonch

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, conducted a visit to the forward areas of Poonch and the Romeo Force Headquarters. The purpose of the visit was to assess the current security situation and the ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region.

During his visit, Lt Gen Sharma received briefings on the continuous dominance activities performed across the Pir Panjal Range. He was also updated on the functioning of the intelligence network and the coordination mechanisms among various security agencies to maintain operational efficiency.

The Army Commander further evaluated the security measures implemented by the Rashtriya Rifles battalions to facilitate the annual migration of the Gujjar-Bakarwal community through sensitive areas in the region.

While interacting with troops stationed in forward locations, Lt Gen Sharma commended their professionalism and operational readiness. He praised their steadfast dedication to maintaining control over challenging terrains despite adverse weather conditions.

The visit underscored the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism readiness, intelligence-driven operations, and the maintenance of security and stability in the Pir Panjal region.
