Lt Gen Pratik Sharma Assesses Operational Readiness of Northern Command’s Strategic Strikers in Udhampur

The Northern Command of the Indian Army, led by Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, recently demonstrated its enhanced operational preparedness through a detailed assessment of the Strategic Strikers formation at its Udhampur headquarters.

In the course of the review, Lt Gen Sharma praised the troops for their coordinated training efforts and stressed the necessity of adaptable, situation-specific operational strategies to address the evolving challenges along India's borders with China and Pakistan.

The inspection underscored the pivotal role of the Northern Command in national defense, managing operations through the XIV, XV, and XVI Corps. Since its re-establishment in 1972, the Command has been at the forefront of India's military efforts, particularly in securing the volatile northern frontier regions.

The review by Lt Gen Sharma takes place amid rising global security concerns, notably highlighted by the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Defense analysts suggest that such global developments could influence regional stability, necessitating increased vigilance along India's sensitive borders.

Under the guidance of Lt Gen Sharma, the Command is shaping its strategy in line with modern combat doctrines and integrated warfare principles. Military sources revealed that the formations reviewed are now incorporating advanced tactical maneuvers, drawing on doctrines similar to “blitzkrieg” and “bull horn formation,” which emphasize rapid deployment and coordinated attacks.

The focus on technological advancements and combat readiness highlights India's dedication to bolstering its northern defenses amidst a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. With Lt Gen Sharma leading, the Northern Command is poised to serve as a strategic defense shield, ensuring operational superiority in the region.
