Lt Gen Mishra Conducts Operational Readiness Assessment Along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir

Lieutenant General P. K. Mishra, leading the Indian Army's White Knight Corps (XVI Corps), conducted an in-depth evaluation of operational readiness during his visit to the forward brigades along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. This marked his first significant visit to these front-line areas since assuming the role of Corps Commander on April 1, 2025.

In the company of senior leaders from the Ace of Spades and Crossed Swords Divisions, Lt Gen Mishra examined the current situation on the ground. He received detailed briefings about the existing threat environment, response strategies, and the deployment status of forces. The visit was part of an effort to maintain a strategic advantage in the operational landscape and bolster combat readiness in essential sectors.

Based in Nagrota, the White Knight Corps is tasked with defending the critical LoC section from Akhnoor to Poonch and managing internal security in the region's hinterlands. This area often experiences tensions and requires constant vigilance due to ongoing infiltration threats and cross-border conflicts.

During his interactions with troops of varying ranks, Lt Gen Mishra praised their professionalism and urged them to stay determined and vigilant. He stressed the importance of maintaining high morale and combat effectiveness in the face of evolving challenges, reaffirming the Army’s dedication to fortifying its defensive stance in this strategically vital area.

Military experts note that these high-level evaluations are consistent with contemporary operational doctrines. A study by the RAND Corporation in 2023 underscored the necessity of routine assessments in contested territories to ensure robust deterrence and control.

Additionally, there is an ongoing debate among defense analysts regarding operational camouflage, particularly the high visibility of red collar tabs on Army uniforms in prominent terrains. A 2021 article in the Journal of Defense Studies suggested reexamining these insignias to improve concealment in forested and mountainous areas like those along the LoC.

The White Knight Corps remains pivotal in maintaining peace and stability along the border, exercising operational command over critical counter-insurgency units such as the Delta Force and Romeo Force of the Rashtriya Rifles.
