Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar Evaluates Golden Arrow Division's Operational Preparedness

Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, AVSM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Army's Western Command, visited the Golden Arrow Division on July 19. The purpose of his visit was to evaluate the division's readiness for operations, the progress of infrastructure, and efforts in welfare and digitization.

Originally established on October 1, 1940, in Attock, the Golden Arrow Division boasts a rich history of military service. It was instrumental in the Burma and Thailand campaigns during World War II, playing a significant role in the disarmament of Japanese forces and the liberation of Allied prisoners. After India's independence, it became a vital component of the Indian Army's 7th Infantry Division.

During his visit, Lt Gen Katiyar observed modernization efforts within the division, which include digitization projects that aim to enhance operational efficiency. These initiatives are part of the broader modernization agenda of the Indian Army. Recent statistics suggest that digital integration has led to a 15% improvement in coordination and response times across various formations.
A highlight of the visit was the recognition of Master Svarn Singh, a young resident of Ferozepur, for his involvement in Operation Sindoor, a community engagement mission near the border conducted by the division. Although details of the mission remain confidential, it underscores the Army's ongoing commitment to community outreach and civic engagement along the sensitive India-Pakistan border regions.
