Lt Gen Madanraj Pande Reviews Fire and Fury Corps Readiness Along LAC in Ladakh
Lieutenant General Madanraj Pande, General Officer Commanding of the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps, has visited forward areas along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh to assess the operational preparedness of troops deployed in one of the Army’s most demanding theatres.
The visit focused on reviewing the readiness of formations stationed in the high-altitude terrain, where extreme weather, difficult logistics and rugged ground conditions place constant pressure on military deployment and sustainment. During his interactions with troops in the forward areas, the Corps Commander examined the measures being taken to strengthen operational capability and improve the effectiveness of units holding these sensitive positions.
Lt Gen Pande also reviewed infrastructure development in the sector, with attention on initiatives intended to make the deployed formations more sustainable in the challenging environment. Such measures are especially significant in Ladakh, where the Army must maintain operational readiness while coping with altitude, weather volatility and long supply lines.
According to the Army, the Corps Commander appreciated the troops for sustaining a high level of preparedness despite these conditions. He praised their ability to remain effective in the face of severe weather, difficult terrain and logistical constraints, and noted the innovative approaches and solutions being adopted to improve operational performance.
He also exhorted all ranks to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, mission readiness and operational excellence, and to remain prepared for emerging operational challenges.
The Fire and Fury Corps, also designated as XIV Corps, is tasked with responsibility for strategically important sectors in Ladakh and routinely reviews the preparedness of formations deployed across the region. Lt Gen Pande has made a series of visits to forward formations in recent months, including those in the Chushul, Siachen and Batalik sectors, where the emphasis has been on combat readiness, technology adoption and operational sustainability.
