Lt Gen HS Vandra Assesses Ammunition Testing and Defence Manufacturing in Jabalpur
Lieutenant General HS Vandra, who holds the position of General Officer Commanding of the Madhya Bharat Area, made a visit to the Long Proof Range in Jabalpur. This facility, which operates under the Directorate General of Quality Assurance, is crucial for conducting dynamic tests and certifying ammunition and weapon systems intended for battlefield use.
During his visit, the Army Commander received a detailed briefing on the essential role the range plays in assessing and confirming the performance, safety, and reliability of a broad array of ammunition and armament systems prior to their service induction.
Lieutenant General Vandra evaluated the testing infrastructure and the methodologies utilized to ensure weapon systems adhere to strict operational and quality standards, thereby bolstering the combat readiness of the Armed Forces.
The General Officer also toured the Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK), where the Chief General Manager provided insights into the factory's current operations, production strengths, and significant manufacturing lines that support the defence needs of India.
Discussions at the briefing emphasized OFK's significant role in producing essential ammunition and defence equipment, thereby strengthening the nation's indigenous defence manufacturing sector.
Lieutenant General Vandra praised the staff of both the Long Proof Range and the Ordnance Factory Khamaria, acknowledging their professionalism, technical skills, and steadfast commitment to enhancing operational readiness.
He remarked that the contributions of these establishments are crucial in improving the combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces while advancing the national goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat through local testing, certification, and defence production capabilities.
The visit highlighted the increasing collaboration between the Armed Forces, quality assurance bodies, and defence manufacturing units in creating a strong, self-reliant, and forward-looking defence ecosystem for the country.
