Lt Gen Gambhir Singh Assumes Role as Eastern Command Chief of Staff

Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, AVSM, YSM, has taken over as Chief of Staff (COS) at the Headquarters Eastern Command, following a ceremonial transition from his predecessor, Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, AVSM, SM.

In his parting address, Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra encouraged all personnel to maintain their commitment to operational effectiveness, organizational excellence, and combat readiness, while preserving the time-honored traditions and values of the Indian Army.

Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, extended congratulations to Lt Gen Gambhir Singh on his new role. He expressed confidence that under Singh's leadership, the Command would continue to enhance its operational capabilities within the eastern theatre.

The Army Commander also extended his best wishes to Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra, who is set to become the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), South Western Command. He praised Malhotra for his outstanding contributions to the Eastern Command during his tenure as Chief of Staff.

This leadership transition ensures the continuation of experienced guidance at the Eastern Command, underscoring the Indian Army's ongoing commitment to operational preparedness, organizational excellence, and mission readiness.
