Lt Gen DS Kushwah Assumes Leadership of Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area Headquarters

In a ceremonial transition, Lt Gen D.S. Kushwah, AVSM, SM, has taken the helm of the Headquarters Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area, succeeding Lt Gen Pawan Chadha, SM, VSM. The event was marked by a formal exchange of salutes, signifying the change in leadership.

Upon assuming his new role, Lt Gen Kushwah urged all personnel to continue upholding the esteemed traditions of the Indian Army while ensuring a high state of operational readiness. He emphasized the pivotal role of technology in the ongoing Decade Of Transformation and the Year of Reforms, highlighting its importance in modernizing the force.

Focusing on mission-oriented training and the inclusion of advanced technology, the new commander stressed the Army's progression towards artificial intelligence, the use of unmanned aerial platforms, and the implementation of counter-drone systems. This aligns with a vision previously articulated by Army Chief General Manoj Pande. By 2027, the Army plans to replace animals in transport units with drones, a significant step towards modernization.

The leadership transition comes on the heels of India’s 78th Independence Day, demonstrating the Army's commitment to self-reliance and innovative practices.

Lt Gen Kushwah's vision aims to bolster the Army’s strategic capabilities in response to regional challenges, ensuring it remains a future-ready and self-sufficient force.
