Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, recently visited the Defence Security Corps (DSC) Centre in Kannur. His visit was aimed at evaluating current training programs, welfare activities, and the readiness for humanitarian assistance in the area.

During the visit, General Seth received a briefing on the Centre's crucial role in personnel training, its operational duties, and the troops' preparedness for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations within their jurisdiction. He praised the Centre for its exceptional performance during last year's Wayanad Flood Relief Operations, highlighting the soldiers' professionalism and rapid response in supporting the civil administration during natural disasters.

A significant aspect of the visit was the unveiling of "The Golden Boots – Tribute to Unknown Soldiers," a memorial dedicated to honoring the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty. This memorial serves as a symbol of remembrance and motivation for future generations of soldiers.

Lieutenant General Seth also recognized the creation of the Military–Civil Fusion Training Node, an initiative aimed at improving coordination between the armed forces and local civil agencies for effective disaster response and civic cooperation.

In alignment with the Indian Army's ongoing focus on the welfare of veterans, General Seth inaugurated a newly built Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic in Iritty, designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to veterans and their families in North Kerala.

Through his interactions with troops and veterans, General Seth emphasized the Southern Command's dedication to training excellence, community engagement, and the welfare of ex-servicemen. His visit highlighted the Indian Army's continuous commitment to operational readiness, humanitarian aid, and the well-being of its broader military community.
