Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Reviews Modernization Efforts at Madras Regimental Centre
On Monday, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the Madras Regimental Centre located in Wellington. The purpose of his visit was to assess the training programs and interact with veterans, emphasizing ongoing modernization efforts and the centre's crucial role in training future soldiers under the Agnipath Scheme.

Established in 1942 and relocated to Wellington in 1947, the Madras Regimental Centre is one of India's oldest military training establishments. It conducts a 24-week basic military training program for Agniveers. Since 2022, the centre has trained over 100,000 recruits, retaining 25% of them based on merit. Lt Gen Seth received briefings on the centre's infrastructure improvements and the incorporation of advanced technology aimed at enhancing field and battle readiness. He commended the centre for its high training standards and encouraged all ranks to sustain mission preparedness in light of evolving security challenges.

Lt Gen Seth also engaged with veterans during his visit, recognizing their service and honoring those who have made significant contributions to community welfare. This engagement underscores the Army's ongoing focus on morale and community integration as part of its strategic objectives.
