Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Reviews Infrastructure and Training Excellence at Belagavi's Rashtriya Military School

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Army's Southern Command, recently visited Rashtriya Military School (RMS) in Belagavi. He commended the school for its outstanding infrastructure, training principles, and role in developing disciplined leaders for the future. This visit underscored the significant role military schools play in India's defense education framework.

During his visit, Lt Gen Seth reviewed the school's state-of-the-art academic and physical training facilities. He praised the faculty and administrative personnel for cultivating an environment conducive to the comprehensive development of cadets, preparing them for leadership roles in both military and civilian contexts. This visit highlighted the Southern Command's commitment to enhancing foundational institutions that are vital to the Army's long-term human resource strategy.

Originally established in the early 1900s as King George’s Royal Indian Military School, the institution was renamed Rashtriya Military School in 2007. It has since trained countless leaders instilled with values of discipline, integrity, and service. In 1952, the school began admitting civilian students, and recently, the inclusion of girl cadets marked a significant step towards inclusive military education. Lt Gen Seth's engagement with the girl cadets was a notable part of his visit, where he applauded their determination and resilience, reflecting the Army's evolving commitment to gender diversity and equal opportunities.

The General Officer also recognized exceptional cadets for their achievements in academics and extracurricular activities, reinforcing the importance of well-rounded excellence. This aligns with the school's motto, "Sheelem Param Bhushanam" (Character is the Highest Virtue), a guiding principle since 1966.

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth began leading the Indian Army's Southern Command on July 1, 2024, following his service as Army Commander of the South Western Command. His visit to RMS Belagavi, one of the five distinguished Rashtriya Military Schools in India, demonstrates the Army's continued dedication to cultivating leadership from the grassroots level, ensuring the enduring legacy of courage, service, and integrity.
