Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Reviews Indigenous Defense Progress at Tata Advanced Systems in Pune

Today, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) facility in Pune. The purpose of the visit was to assess the advancements in indigenous defense technologies, signaling the Indian Army's commitment to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

During the visit, detailed briefings were given on advanced military platforms developed by TASL, including the Quick Reaction Force Vehicle (QRFV), Infantry Protected Mobility Vehicle (IPMV), Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV), Future Ready Combat Vehicle (FRCV), and Light Tank. These systems, designed for improved mobility and survivability, aim to enhance the Army's rapid deployment and operational readiness in areas prone to conflict.

The QRFV, a 4x4 mine-protected vehicle, is specially designed for troop transport and special operations. Other platforms like the IPMV and FRCV are designed to meet the Indian Army's future mechanized warfare needs.

Lt Gen Seth applauded the expanding role of TASL in India's defense sector and underscored the necessity of reducing dependency on foreign imports. His visit underscores the Indian Army's strategic initiative to modernize its capabilities and to foster technology-driven and self-reliant defense solutions.

Lt Gen Seth, who took command in July 2024, brings vast experience in armored warfare and military transformation. His interaction with TASL highlights the Army's dedication to incorporating indigenous solutions for evolving security challenges, supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

This collaboration with TASL is anticipated to significantly impact the transformation of the Indian Army's mechanized forces, with the introduction of new platforms expected in the upcoming years.
