Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Highlights Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative During Visit to Adani Defence Facility in Hyderabad

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, recently toured the Adani Defence and Aerospace facility in Hyderabad. His visit underscores the Indian Army's commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which aims to enhance self-reliance in the nation's defense sector.
During his tour, Lt. Gen. Seth examined a range of advanced indigenous technologies, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones, counter-drone systems, missiles, small arms, and defense electronics. He praised Adani Defence for its significant contribution to advancing India's self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing and its role in positioning the country as an emerging global hub in this domain.

The facility in Hyderabad, operated by Adani, hosts India's first private UAV manufacturing unit. This site plays a pivotal role in the country's transformation by producing advanced carbon composite aero-structures for UAVs, such as the Hermes 900. The facility also collaborates with international partners and supports MSMEs to fuel indigenous innovation.
Lt. Gen. Seth's discussions with company executives highlighted the importance of leveraging local expertise to achieve operational superiority. His observations mirror his earlier comments at Aero India 2025, where he commended the expanding ecosystem of domestically developed platforms.
According to defense experts, Lt. Gen. Seth's visit underscores the collaboration between government policies and private-sector innovation. This synergy has the potential to further diminish reliance on foreign technology and bolster India's strategic independence.
