Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Evaluates Indigenous Defence Capabilities at NIBE Ltd, Pune

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, holding the titles of PVSM, UYSM, and AVSM, and serving as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, conducted a site visit to the defence manufacturing facility of NIBE Ltd located in Chakan near Pune. The purpose of the visit was to assess the company's capabilities in indigenous design, manufacturing, and systems integration.

During his tour, the Army Commander engaged with the leadership and technical teams at NIBE Ltd. He received detailed briefings on the company's advanced infrastructure, which supports precision cutting, automated welding, vertical machining, computer numerical control machining, and large structural assembly lines. These technological capabilities facilitate the production of intricate, mission-critical components for launcher assemblies, structural sub-systems, and other sophisticated defence applications.

In addition to evaluating these capabilities, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth examined a selection of strategic equipment and weapon systems that have been developed indigenously by NIBE Ltd. This review underscores India's expanding expertise in specialized defence technologies and the growing involvement of private industry in enhancing national defence readiness.

The visit highlighted the strengthening collaboration between the Indian Army and the nation's defence sector in promoting indigenous capability development. It reaffirmed a mutual commitment to the national initiative of Atmanirbhar Bharat, aiming for a self-sufficient defence ecosystem that aligns with the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
