Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Evaluates Indigenous Defence Capabilities at L&T Precision Engineering in Pune

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, recently conducted a visit to L&T Precision Engineering & Systems located in Talegaon near Pune. The purpose of the visit was to assess the indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities of the industry.

In the course of his visit, the Army Commander received a briefing on a broad array of advanced defence systems that are being developed by Larsen & Toubro. This range includes artillery guns, launchers, air defence systems, combat engineering solutions, and advanced radar systems. Additionally, the L&T team highlighted their state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, simulation tools, and comprehensive testing infrastructure that facilitate the development of complex defence platforms from start to finish.

The visit also provided an opportunity for detailed discussions on the emerging and future capability needs of the Indian Army. An overview was presented on the next-generation platforms currently in development at L&T, which are designed to address evolving operational challenges.

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth expressed his appreciation for L&T’s ongoing contributions to enhancing self-reliance in defence manufacturing. He reiterated the importance of Indian industry as a crucial enabler in building a technologically advanced and future-ready Army. He stressed that such partnerships are essential in propelling the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and improving India's defence readiness through indigenisation and innovation.
