Lt Gen Devendra Sharma Evaluates Training Advancements at Institute of Military Law
On November 10, 2025, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the Institute of Military Law (IML). The purpose of his visit was to evaluate the current training programs, infrastructural growth, and educational initiatives at the institute, which cater to the changing legal and operational requirements of the Indian Army.
Throughout his visit, Lt Gen Sharma received detailed briefings on the institute's training curriculum and teaching methods. He was informed about the latest adaptations made to equip legal officers to tackle future challenges in military justice and administrative law. The briefing included discussions on the integration of technology-based learning modules and efforts to ensure that the training content meets the needs of modern warfare and joint-service operations.

Lt Gen Sharma also took the opportunity to review the infrastructure development projects currently underway at the campus. These projects are aimed at improving the learning environment and providing state-of-the-art facilities for the officers in training.

In addition, the Army Commander interacted with the student officers participating in the Judge Advocate Basic Course (JAC-35). He praised their dedication to maintaining high standards of military ethics and justice. Furthermore, he acknowledged the professionalism and dedication of the faculty and staff in their role of developing capable Judge Advocate officers for the Indian Armed Forces.

Highlighting the essential role legal officers play in ensuring discipline, fairness, and procedural integrity within the military, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma urged the institute to persist in its innovative efforts. He stressed the importance of aligning training modules with the Army Training Command's broader objectives. Lt Gen Sharma emphasized that a solid legal framework and well-prepared Judge Advocate officers are crucial components of a responsive, adaptable, and future-ready military force.
