Lt Gen Devendra Sharma Evaluates Advanced Indigenous Training Simulators at SDD
Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, who holds the titles of PVSM, AVSM, and SM, and serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), conducted an inspection of the Simulator Development Division (SDD) on December 18, 2025. The visit was aimed at assessing the progress in the implementation of sophisticated training technologies for the Indian Army.

During his time at the SDD, Lt Gen Sharma received updates on various projects focused on developing advanced technologies, including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), simulators, and robotics. These projects are geared towards crafting immersive, technology-driven training solutions designed to boost the realism, efficiency, and adaptability of military training exercises.

The Army Commander expressed his appreciation for the emphasis on indigenisation and innovation at the SDD. He remarked that such efforts are crucial for developing next-generation training simulators and modern educational tools that meet the specific operational needs of the Indian Army. He highlighted the significance of utilizing emerging technologies to enhance training efficiency, reduce expenses, and improve self-reliance.
