Lt Gen Balakrishnan Jayan Reviews Army Dental Corps Preparedness at Sapta Shakti Command
Lieutenant General Balakrishnan Jayan, Director General Dental Services (DGDS) and Colonel Commandant of the Army Dental Corps, visited CMDC (SWC) to review how dental services are supporting troops and to assess the force’s operational preparedness across different mission environments.
The visit centred on the Army Dental Corps’ ability to provide agile, advanced and responsive oral healthcare across the full operational spectrum, from routine peacetime requirements to conflict situations. According to the review, the focus was not limited to clinical service delivery alone but also to the wider question of how dental readiness contributes to military readiness.
Dental fitness was highlighted as an essential part of overall troop health and a factor that directly affects operational readiness. Effective oral healthcare helps preserve personnel fitness, supports combat effectiveness and enables formations to sustain demanding military operations without avoidable medical and dental interruptions.
As part of the visit, Lt Gen Jayan also met Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command. The interaction provided an opportunity for the senior officers to discuss ways to further strengthen dental support for troops through technological advancement and operational modernisation.
The discussions also examined how military dental services can be prepared for evolving battlefield requirements.
