Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta Assesses Indigenous Military Innovations at Golden Key Division
In an effort to promote operational self-reliance and technological advancement, the Indian Army’s Central Command highlighted innovations spearheaded by soldiers from the Golden Key Division. Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, reviewed these groundbreaking solutions.
Lt Gen Sengupta, a highly decorated officer with significant experience in UN peacekeeping missions and counter-insurgency operations, commended the resourcefulness and flexibility of the soldiers during his visit. The Central Command, which spans an extensive area of 3.1 million square kilometers, is central to integrating indigenous technology with combat readiness.
The review included cutting-edge developments such as advanced communication systems and drone platforms, aligned with the Futuristic Infantry Soldier As a System (F-INSAS) initiative. This program aims to modernize the Army’s 1.2 million active personnel by enhancing their lethality, situational awareness, and mobility through indigenous solutions.
The inspection followed shortly after VEM Technologies delivered a crucial component for the Tejas Mk1A fuselage on September 4, marking a significant step in India’s "Make in India" defense initiative. Recent delays in the supply of General Electric’s F-404 engines for the LCA program have highlighted the need for domestic innovation in defense manufacturing.
Historically recognized for its role in countering Pakistan’s advances during the 1965 Indo-Pak war, the Golden Key Division is now positioning itself at the forefront of operational transformation. Innovations led by soldiers not only enhance battlefield readiness but also contribute to strengthening India’s strategic independence.
