Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla Reviews Army Operational Readiness, Defence Logistics at COD Kanpur
Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, SM, VSM, MGS IHQ of MoD (Army), visited the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) in Kanpur, where the focus was squarely on logistics, supply-chain resilience and the Army’s drive for greater self-reliance in equipment support.
The visit highlighted a simple but central point: the Indian Army’s operational readiness depends not only on what happens at the front line, but also on the systems that keep troops supplied, equipped and supported before and during operations. Lt Gen Aujla stressed that military preparedness begins well before soldiers reach the battlefront, and that an efficient, resilient logistics network is the backbone of sustained operations.
At COD Kanpur, the interaction centred on strengthening indigenisation, expanding domestic production capacity and maintaining strict quality standards so that the equipment and stores reaching soldiers in the field continue to meet operational requirements.
