Lashkar-e-Taiba Operative Alleges Systematic Killing of Members in Pakistan by Unknown Gunmen
A video has emerged on social media allegedly featuring Rizwan Hanif, a senior figure associated with the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). In the video, Hanif claims that over 30 members of the group have been killed by "unknown gunmen" in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) over the last three to four years.
The video suggests that the killings occurred in various locations, including Peshawar, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Rawalakot, and Muzaffarabad. Hanif alleges that these members of the banned terrorist group have been systematically targeted in these regions and describes the deaths as part of an ongoing series of attacks.
This video has garnered attention as it reportedly marks the first time a Lashkar-linked operative has publicly acknowledged the deaths of many of the group's members within Pakistan. Indian media reports suggest that Indian security agencies have confirmed the identity of the person in the video as Rizwan Hanif, a senior operative of Lashkar wanted by India. However, independent verification of the video's content and the claims made within it has not been publicly confirmed.
In the video, Hanif accuses Indian agencies of orchestrating the targeted killings. India has consistently denied such allegations and has refused to take responsibility for the incidents mentioned in the video.
The video is also said to contain inflammatory and hateful comments directed at the Hindu community, reflecting the extremist propaganda used by terrorist organizations to promote hatred, justify violence, and encourage radicalization.
Lashkar-e-Taiba, responsible for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that resulted in 166 deaths, has long been designated as a terrorist organization by the United Nations and several countries. Although Pakistan has claimed that the organization was banned and dismantled, international concerns persist regarding the presence and activities of individuals associated with the group.
The release of the video has once again highlighted the internal security issues associated with terrorist organizations operating from Pakistani territory. Nonetheless, the allegations regarding the responsibility for the reported killings remain disputed, and no official evidence has been publicly presented to support the claims made by the Lashkar operative.
