ITBP ASI Parveen Hooda Wins Women’s 65kg Boxing Gold at Asian Games 2026 in Japan
Assistant Sub-Inspector Parveen Hooda of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has won the gold medal in the women’s 65kg boxing category at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, adding another major international title to her record and bringing recognition to both India and the force she serves.
The ITBP congratulated ASI Parveen Hooda on her gold-medal-winning performance and praised her achievement at the continental event. Hooda’s latest victory further strengthens an already established international medal tally that spans several weight categories and major championships.
Born on April 15, 2000, in Rurki, Rohtak district, Haryana, Hooda is an Indian amateur boxer who competes in the orthodox stance. Over the years, she has represented India at major international boxing competitions and has built a notable career across the 60kg, 63kg and 65kg divisions.

Hooda’s medal record reflects sustained success on the international stage. She won gold in the 60kg category at the 2019 South Asian Games in Kathmandu, followed by another gold in the 63kg category at the 2022 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Amman.
At the 2022 World Championships in Istanbul, she secured a bronze medal in the 63kg category. She went on to claim another gold at the 2025 World Boxing Cup in New Delhi, competing in the 60kg category.
With her gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games, Hooda has now added a major continental title in the 65kg category to a résumé that already includes medals at the South Asian Games, Asian Championships, World Championships and World Boxing Cup.
Hooda also serves as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, combining her sporting career with service in one of India’s Central Armed Police Forces. Her success at the Asian Games once again highlights the presence of personnel from India’s uniformed services in international sport.

The ITBP said Hooda’s achievement had brought laurels to the nation and the organisation. Her victory adds to a growing international record that has seen her rise across multiple weight classes while maintaining her place among India’s leading amateur boxers.
In addition to the Asian Games gold, Hooda’s career features gold medals at the South Asian Games, Asian Amateur Boxing Championships and World Boxing Cup, along with a bronze at the World Championships. The latest result in Japan extends that list and gives her another gold medal at one of Asia’s biggest multi-sport events.
The Women’s 65kg triumph is the newest entry in a career that has already produced major results for India on the international stage, while also reflecting the role of service athletes in the country’s sporting representation.
