Indra and AXISCADES Partner to Boost Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing in India

Indra, a leading European defense and aerospace company, has forged a strategic alliance with Indian technology firm AXISCADES to collaboratively develop advanced aerospace and defense systems in India. This agreement was formalized at the Paris Air Show held at Le Bourget, with signatures from Indra CEO José Vicente de los Mozos and AXISCADES Chairman Dr. Sampath Ravinarayanan, accompanied by senior representatives from both organizations.
Under this partnership, AXISCADES will utilize its extensive capabilities in design, development, and supply chain management to manufacture various Indra products within India. These products include antennas for Tactical Air Navigation Systems (TACAN), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) for in-flight data of aircraft, and advanced countermeasure systems aimed at protecting against missile threats such as MANPADS.
This collaboration not only broadens Indra’s global influence and network of defense partners but also bolsters India's status as a hub for manufacturing cutting-edge defense technology. The initiative aligns with the Indian government's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat programs, which aim to promote self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing.
The companies are also considering joint development ventures for both domestic and international markets. These prospective collaborations may include Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) solutions and specialized partnerships related to the Defense Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) CABS MRMR and MMMA programs.
With a long-established presence in India, Indra has played a significant role in modernizing civil air traffic management and providing critical systems to the Indian Armed Forces. AXISCADES, a prominent Indian leader in aerospace and defense technology, offers over twenty years of expertise and a robust portfolio of engineering and production services, making it a suitable partner for such international collaborations.
