India's First Homegrown C-295 Aircraft Completes Successful Maiden Flight, Strengthening Indigenous Defence Capability
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has extended its congratulations to the team responsible for the successful inaugural flight of the first domestically produced C-295 transport aircraft. This achievement has been hailed as a pivotal moment in India's aerospace and defense manufacturing progress.

The C-295 aircraft is being manufactured in India through a significant collaboration between Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). The assembly of the aircraft takes place at a cutting-edge Final Assembly Line facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. This facility is notable for being the first in the private sector to manufacture military transport aircraft in India at such a scale.
The successful first flight of the India-assembled C-295 showcases the nation's growing capability to produce advanced military aircraft domestically, aligning with governmental goals to decrease reliance on imports.
The C-295 program is set to replace the Indian Air Force's aging Avro-748 transport fleet, thereby enhancing its tactical airlift capacity.
