India's Airports Enhance Security Following Terror Alert Warning
All airports in India have been placed under heightened alert due to an intelligence warning about a potential terror attack that could occur between September 22 and October 2, 2025. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has instructed all relevant parties, including state police, airport operators, and airlines, to enhance surveillance and security measures throughout the nation's aviation sector.
Issued on August 4, the advisory extends to major airports as well as airstrips, helipads, airfields, flying schools, and aviation training centers. According to sources from PTI, the alert is based on specific intelligence concerning the activities of a Pakistani terror organization. BCAS has mandated that all agencies maintain close collaboration with the CISF, Intelligence Bureau, local police, and additional security agencies to ensure swift communication of any new intelligence.
Security enhancements have been implemented at all civil aviation facilities, with directives for continuous patrols of terminals, parking areas, perimeters, and other critical zones. Additional security checks are to be conducted on the cityside of airports in partnership with local law enforcement. Domestic and international airlines are now required to rigorously screen all cargo, mail, and parcels prior to loading them onto aircraft.
The advisory also emphasizes stringent identification verification for all personnel, contractors, and visitors accessing aviation sites. CCTV systems are to remain fully functional and under constant surveillance. BCAS has underscored the necessity for unwavering vigilance and readiness during this period of heightened alert.
In response to the directive, India's aviation sector is preparing for a comprehensive security operation aimed at neutralizing any potential threats and ensuring the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and infrastructure across the country.
