Indian Navy's INS Trikand Thwarts Pirate Attack, Secures MV Golden Arsenal in Gulf of Aden
The Indian Navy has successfully intercepted a piracy attempt in the Gulf of Aden. The incident involved the frontline warship INS Trikand, which responded promptly to a distress signal from the merchant ship MV Golden Arsenal.
Reports indicate that the vessel was carrying essential cargo bound for India and included one Indian national among its crew. When faced with a suspected pirate attack, the crew quickly took refuge in the ship's secure room, known as a citadel, and notified maritime authorities through emergency communication channels.
As INS Trikand approached the scene, the suspected pirates abandoned their efforts and left the area without taking control of the ship.
Subsequent to the incident, a detachment of Indian Navy Marine Commandos (MARCOS) boarded the MV Golden Arsenal. They performed a thorough inspection to ensure the safety of the vessel and confirm the absence of any lingering threats.
This rapid intervention highlights the Indian Navy's dedication to protecting international maritime routes and ensuring the security of merchant ships navigating the piracy-threatened waters of the Gulf of Aden, while also safeguarding Indian nationals and vital maritime commerce.
