Indian Navy's First Training Squadron Embarks on Long-Range Training Mission to Southeast Asia

The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron, including vessels INS Tir, INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and ICGS Sarathi, has embarked on a Long Range Training Deployment (LRTD) to Southeast Asia. This deployment is part of the curriculum for the 110th Integrated Officers’ Training Course, as announced by the Ministry of Defence.

This mission involves port visits to Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, offering officer trainees significant operational and professional experience along with cultural exchanges. The deployment also strengthens India’s maritime ties with Southeast Asian countries, aligning with the Act East Policy and India’s strategic vision for an open Indian Ocean Region.

During these port calls, the squadron will engage in various professional activities with the host countries’ navies and maritime agencies. These activities include structured training exchanges, cross-deck visits, expert interactions, and Joint Maritime Partnership exercises. Such engagements aim to improve interoperability, build mutual trust, and facilitate the sharing of best practices at sea.

The 110th Integrated Officers’ Training Course features participation from six international officer trainees from allied foreign countries, demonstrating the Indian Navy’s commitment to capacity building and professional military education. Additionally, personnel from the Indian Army and Air Force are part of this deployment, enhancing tri-service cooperation and integration.

This Long Range Training Deployment emphasizes the Indian Navy’s dedication to training excellence while promoting maritime diplomacy, goodwill, and cooperative regional security. By integrating comprehensive training with multinational engagements, the deployment seeks to foster deeper maritime partnerships and strengthen stability in Southeast Asia and the broader Indian Ocean Region.
