Indian Navy Fleet to Forts Motorcycle Expedition Visits Sainik School Satara on Day Four

The Fleet to Forts Motorcycle Expedition, organised by Headquarters Western Naval Command (WNC) in association with TVS Motor Company, continued on Day Four with a ride from Pune to Satara, where the Indian Navy team visited Sainik School Satara, met ex-servicemen, and toured two well-known local landmarks.

The 25-member expedition comprises personnel and ladies from the Indian Navy. It was flagged off earlier from Kohli Stadium in Mumbai by Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale, Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command. According to the organisers, the expedition is intended to carry a message to Young India to serve the nation with pride while also allowing participants to experience Maharashtra’s culture, heritage and landscapes.

At Sainik School Satara, the riders interacted with students and faculty, extending the outreach element of the expedition to a younger audience. The visit formed part of the team’s broader journey through Maharashtra, which has combined riding with school visits, community engagement and visits to sites of cultural significance.

The team also spent time over tea with members of the Ex-servicemen Association of Satara. The interaction was in line with the expedition’s stated emphasis on outreach, service and camaraderie with the ex-servicemen community, and gave the participants an opportunity to connect with veterans in Satara as they moved through the state.

The Day Four itinerary further took the team to Kaas Plateau, described as a high-altitude biodiversity hotspot and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit allowed the expedition members to experience the landscape and biodiversity associated with one of Satara’s best-known natural attractions.

Another stop on the day’s route was Jalmandir, adding to the mix of educational, community and heritage-related engagements built into the expedition’s schedule.

By the end of the fourth day, the expedition had brought together visits to a school, an ex-servicemen interaction and stops at Kaas Plateau and Jalmandir, reflecting the blend of outreach and heritage exploration that the organisers say defines the initiative.

From its flag-off in Mumbai, the Fleet to Forts Motorcycle Expedition has continued across Maharashtra as a naval outreach initiative designed to engage young people and veterans alike while showcasing the state’s varied cultural and natural landscape.
