Indian Navy Employee’s Wife, 3 Children Allegedly Drink Rat Poison in Faridabad After Abuse Claims

Four members of an Indian Navy employee’s family were hospitalised in serious condition after allegedly consuming rat poison at their home in Surya Vihar Phase 2 in Faridabad’s Palla area on Sunday, in a case that police say is linked to allegations of domestic abuse. The family was first taken to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital and later referred to a hospital in Delhi for further treatment after the eldest daughter called the emergency helpline 112 when their condition worsened.

The employee, identified as Sunil, is originally from Bihar and is posted in Delhi with the Indian Navy. According to reports, he is often away from home for long periods. His wife, Mala, works in the marketing department of a private company. Their children are 17-year-old Srishti, who studies in Class 11, 13-year-old Ram, a Class 8 student, and 11-year-old Rudra, who studies in Class 7.

Police and reports citing PTI said the case came to light after the eldest daughter told investigators that her father had long subjected the family to physical abuse and repeatedly questioned her mother’s character. She said that on Sunday morning, while she was in her room on the terrace, her father took away her mobile phone and verbally abused both her and her mother.

According to the daughter’s account, the situation escalated later in the day when Mala consumed rat poison in the afternoon and also gave it to the three children. Soon after, all four began showing symptoms of severe distress, leading the daughter to dial 112 for help. Emergency responders then moved the family to the local civil hospital before doctors referred them to Delhi because of the seriousness of their condition.

Police said a team reached the spot and shifted the four family members for treatment. At the time of the initial reports, no written complaint had been filed at Palla Police Station. Officials said action would be taken as per law once a formal complaint is registered, and that the circumstances surrounding the incident are being examined.

The reports consistently identify the substance consumed as rat poison and describe the act as a response to alleged long-standing mistreatment. The four remain under medical observation at the Delhi hospital, while the matter is under police inquiry.

The account is based on contemporaneous reporting from The Times of India, citing PTI, as well as Rediff, Dainik Bhaskar, AajTak and other local sources published on October 25, 2026. The allegations made by family members have not yet been independently verified through a completed investigation or formal complaint.
