Indian Navy Confers Wings on Naval Air Operations Course Graduates at Kochi Ceremony

Kochi, July 25, 2026: The Indian Navy has achieved a significant milestone in aviation personnel training with the Ceremonial Divisions for the 103rd Naval Air Operations Course, conducted on July 25, 2026, at the Naval Air Operations School.

The ceremony marked the graduation of four Indian Navy officers and one Indian Coast Guard officer, who completed the specialised training. These officers have now been commissioned as Air Operations Officers, a crucial cadre overseeing the planning, coordination, and management of naval aviation operations.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the 'Wings', a symbol of the officers' successful completion of the rigorous course and readiness to handle operational duties in naval air operations. Commodore P.G. Thomas, Commodore (Training), Southern Naval Command, awarded the Wings, acknowledging the officers' accomplishments.

The Naval Air Operations Course imparts specialised knowledge and practical skills essential for managing complex air operations involving naval aircraft and helicopters. Air Operations Officers are pivotal in mission planning, airspace management, flight coordination, surveillance, search and rescue missions, and ensuring the seamless integration of aviation assets with maritime forces during both peacetime and operational deployments.

The participation of an Indian Coast Guard officer in the course highlights the increasing focus on joint training and interoperability between India's maritime security forces. Collaborative training efforts enhance coordination in maritime surveillance, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions, search and rescue operations, and coastal security tasks.

During the ceremony, Commodore P.G. Thomas praised the graduating officers for their dedication, professionalism, and perseverance throughout the demanding training program. He urged them to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and continue contributing to the enhancement of India's maritime aviation capabilities.
