Indian Naval Academy to Host 14th Admiral’s Cup 2025 International Sailing Championships
The Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala is preparing to host the distinguished Admiral’s Cup 2025, a renowned international naval sailing championship, from December 8 to 13. The 14th edition of this esteemed event will feature representatives from 35 countries, underscoring its increasing prominence and recognition among global maritime nations.
Established in 2010, the Admiral’s Cup aims to build camaraderie, professional rapport, and enhanced maritime cooperation among officer trainees from allied foreign navies. Over time, it has become a leading global contest, drawing elite sailing talent from naval academies worldwide.
The championship will be held in the Match Racing format using ILCA–6 class sailboats, a category recognized worldwide for its requirement of tactical skill, physical endurance, and exceptional seamanship. This year's participants hail from regions including Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, making it a dynamic display of international maritime culture and collaboration.
The Indian Naval Academy offers modern sailing facilities and optimal sea conditions along the Ezhimala coast, providing a first-rate venue for the event. Beyond the races, participating teams will engage in cultural exchanges, interactions, and outreach activities, gaining insight into India's naval traditions and the Academy's training environment.
The championship will officially begin on December 9 with an opening ceremony, followed by four days of intense racing under challenging wind and sea conditions. The event will conclude on December 13 with a Closing Ceremony, where distinguished crews and individual sailors will be recognized for their exceptional performances.
