Indian Military Academy Cadets Explore Hydrography at National Hydrographic Office
Officer Cadets from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) participated in an educational visit to the National Hydrographic Office (NHO) in Dehradun from May 15 to 16, 2026. This programme was designed to enhance their understanding of joint operational domains.
Throughout the visit, the cadets gained comprehensive knowledge of hydrography, nautical charting, and the essential role of hydrographic operations in facilitating maritime navigation, supporting naval missions, and ensuring national security.

Briefings provided by officials highlighted the operations of the National Hydrographic Office and its contributions to safe navigation, maritime domain awareness, and the operational planning process for the Indian Navy.

This exposure programme offered these future Army officers a deeper appreciation of the significance of maritime operations and the importance of inter-service cooperation and specialised technical capabilities in defence operations.

The visit underscored the Armed Forces' ongoing focus on fostering joint efforts, enhancing professional military education, and promoting cross-domain operational awareness among officer cadets.
