Indian Army's Spear Corps Showcases Readiness with 'Winged Raider' Airborne Exercise at Majuli Island

The Indian Army's Spear Corps carried out an intensive airborne exercise known as 'Winged Raider' from December 15 to 16, 2025. This operation demonstrated the army's readiness to tackle evolving operational and strategic challenges.

During the exercise, specialized airborne units undertook various sophisticated insertion techniques at the Majuli Island Drop Zone (DZ). The operations included Combat Free Fall (CFF) jumps, drops using the Guided Para Aerial Delivery System (GPADS), and Static-Line parachute jumps, all conducted from the Indian Air Force's C-130J Hercules transport aircraft.

The main objectives of the exercise were to improve joint operational capability, ensure rapid deployment of forces, and achieve precision in the insertion of troops and equipment in varied and challenging terrains. The distinctive geography of Majuli Island provided a realistic setting to test airborne techniques, coordination, and logistics under conditions similar to combat.

Senior military officials attended the exercise, commending the professionalism, coordination, and high operational standards demonstrated by the troops. The successful completion of 'Winged Raider' highlighted the Spear Corps' combat readiness, operational adaptability, and capability to conduct quick airborne operations in support of national security goals.

This exercise underscores the Indian Army's ongoing focus on preparedness for modern warfare, emphasizing joint operations and rapid response abilities, especially in strategically significant areas.
