Indian Army's Operation Sagar Bandhu: Restoring Communication in Cyclone-Affected Sri Lanka

In the wake of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused significant disruptions to communication networks in parts of Sri Lanka, the Indian Army's Shatrujeet Brigade Integrated Task Force acted promptly to restore critical infrastructure.

Operating under Operation Sagar Bandhu, the task force swiftly repaired the cyclone-damaged Optical Fiber Cable (OFC), which had led to a substantial communications blackout in Mahiyanganaya, near Kandy. Their rapid response facilitated the reestablishment of vital connectivity for thousands of residents and local authorities who were affected.

This swift and coordinated operation highlights India's role as a dependable first responder in the region, providing immediate aid, restoring communication pathways, and reinforcing regional humanitarian partnerships when critically needed.
