Indian Army Seeks Indigenous Suppliers for 400 High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicles

The Indian Army has announced a Request for Information (RFI) to acquire around 400 High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicles (HMRVs) as well as related equipment under the Make in India initiative. This effort aims to improve operational capabilities in strategic regions while supporting local defense manufacturing.
As per the RFI, the complete delivery of these HMRVs is scheduled to occur within 24 months following the contract signing. The vehicles are designed to enhance operational effectiveness by offering superior mobility, protection, and reconnaissance in challenging environments, including high-altitude areas.
This procurement effort is part of the Army's broader plan for modernization and self-reliance in defense production. Industry participants are expected to provide solutions that satisfy strict performance and mobility standards specified in the RFI. The evaluation will particularly focus on advanced sensors, communication systems, and options for weapon integration.
This initiative represents a further step in the Indian Army's strategy to equip forces with advanced systems that meet India’s unique operational requirements, while also bolstering the nation's defense manufacturing sector.
