Indian Army Releases SSC Tech 67 Merit List, 203 Candidates Recommended Across Engineering Streams
The Indian Army has published the merit list for the Short Service Commission (Technical) – 67th Course, which is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with 203 candidates recommended across six engineering streams. However, the Army has made it clear that inclusion in the merit list does not automatically entitle a candidate to a Joining Letter, which will be issued later on the basis of merit, available vacancies, medical fitness, document verification and fulfilment of all eligibility conditions.
The recommendations cover Civil, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical and Miscellaneous engineering categories. The figures released with the merit list show a noticeable variation between the number of candidates recommended and the vacancies notified in each stream.
Computer Science Engineering has seen the highest number of recommendations, with 72 candidates placed in merit against 60 vacancies. Mechanical Engineering follows with 53 recommended candidates against 101 vacancies, making it the second-largest stream by number of recommendations.
In Electronics Engineering, 45 candidates have been recommended against 64 vacancies, while the Electrical Engineering category has 18 recommendations against 33 vacancies. Civil Engineering has 11 recommended candidates despite 75 vacancies, and the Miscellaneous engineering category has four recommendations against 17 vacancies.
The Army has emphasised that the merit list is only one stage in the selection process. Joining Letters will be issued strictly in order of merit and only after accounting for the number of available vacancies in each category. In addition, candidates must be found medically fit, complete document verification successfully and satisfy every eligibility condition laid down in the course notification.
The service has also asked candidates who have not yet submitted all required academic and supporting documents to do so without delay. These include self-attested scanned copies of all semester marksheets, degree certificates or provisional degree certificates, along with any other required documents. The Army has directed candidates to upload these through the ‘Feedback/Query’ option on the official Indian Army recruitment website.
Importantly, the Army has clarified that neither documentation status nor the outcome of medical examinations was considered while preparing the merit list. Those factors will be examined later while deciding which candidates will ultimately receive Joining Letters for the October 2026 course.
The SSC (Tech) entry is one of the Indian Army’s established routes for engineering graduates seeking to enter service as technical officers under the Short Service Commission. Candidates who clear the selection process and meet all prescribed conditions undergo military training before being commissioned.
For candidates whose names now appear on the SSC (Tech)-67 merit list, the next phase will centre on completing pending paperwork, meeting medical standards and waiting for Joining Letters to be issued in accordance with merit and vacancy availability.
