Indian Army Pledges to Sponsor Education of 10-Year-Old for Supporting Troops During Operation Sindoor

In an inspiring gesture of support and recognition, the Indian Army's Golden Arrow Division has committed to funding the education of 10-year-old Shvan Singh. The young boy from Tara Wali village in Punjab's Ferozepur district offered assistance to troops during the recently completed Operation Sindoor.

Shvan, who is in the fourth grade, became known for his regular visits to the border, where he provided water, milk, lassi, and ice to Army personnel stationed in the area. His dedication and service amid tense circumstances earned him the nickname of the nation's "youngest civil warrior."

At a ceremony in Ferozepur Cantonment, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Western Command, honored Shvan for his remarkable sense of duty, empathy, and patriotism. The General highlighted the strong relationship between the Indian Army and the people of Punjab, noting that Shvan's actions reflect the region's deep-rooted spirit of service.

The Army's pledge ensures that Shvan's education will not be hindered by financial limitations. All educational expenses, including admission, tuition, books, and other academic necessities, will be covered. Shvan has expressed a heartfelt ambition to join the Indian Army in the future.

Lt Gen Katiyar stated, “Shvan’s dedication is an inspiration not only to his village but to the entire nation. The Indian Army stands with him at every step of his journey.”

Shvan's narrative is a tribute to the numerous unsung heroes who contribute quietly yet significantly to the nation's security and morale. His bravery and contribution are now celebrated as a symbol of the solidarity between civilians and the military.
