Indian Army Initiates Recruitment for 800 Porters in Rajouri and Poonch

The Indian Army is set to hold recruitment rallies aimed at hiring 800 porters for a newly established Porter Company in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Rajouri and Poonch, as confirmed by officials.

An official statement revealed that the recruitment initiative will target 600 porters and an additional 200 reserve porters for the 279 Porter Company, which is being formed under the Ministry of Defence for a duration of 179 days, spanning from April 1 to September 26, 2026.

Recruitment events will be conducted at seven brigade headquarters located within Rajouri and Poonch from March 12 to March 19.

Prospective candidates must be present at the specified brigade headquarters on the designated dates to partake in the recruitment process.

Applicants are required to satisfy certain criteria, including being an Indian citizen, aged between 18 and 40 years, and being medically fit.

Individuals must present original documents along with five attested copies of identity proof such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, or Driving License.

Furthermore, candidates must submit a character certificate issued by the village sarpanch, a medical fitness certificate from an authorised medical attendant, and a police verification certificate.

Eligible candidates have been urged by officials to attend the rallies at their respective locations to complete the recruitment process.

The recruitment of porters is crucial in aiding the logistics and operational tasks of the Indian Army, particularly in demanding terrains and forward positions in the region.
