Indian Army Holds Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session for 135 Lucknow School Students
Lucknow, November 6, 2026: The Indian Army, under the aegis of Surya Command, conducted a menstrual hygiene awareness session for 135 students of Classes V and VI at Army Public School, LBS Marg, Lucknow, on November 5, 2026. The programme was aimed at promoting menstrual health education and encouraging open discussion around women’s health from an early age.
The interactive session was organised by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Command Hospital, Central Command, as part of a broader effort to educate young students about menstrual health, personal hygiene and healthy practices. Medical professionals engaged the children through discussions and practical guidance, explaining why proper menstrual hygiene matters and how healthy habits can support overall well-being.
The session also sought to dispel common myths and misconceptions associated with menstruation. By addressing these misunderstandings directly, the medical team aimed to help students develop a clearer understanding of menstruation as a natural biological process rather than something to be treated with hesitation or embarrassment.
A central objective of the initiative was to encourage young girls to approach menstruation with confidence, awareness and dignity. The team highlighted the importance of accurate information and a supportive environment in which students can speak comfortably about menstrual health concerns and personal hygiene.
The programme further stressed the value of age-appropriate health education at an early stage. According to the initiative’s focus, introducing such knowledge in school years can help students make informed decisions about their hygiene and well-being as they grow older.

The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continuing emphasis on preventive healthcare, education and community welfare. Through menstrual health awareness programmes for schoolchildren, Command Hospital, Central Command, seeks to help break longstanding social taboos and foster a more informed and supportive approach to women’s health.
The session reinforced the message of breaking silence, building awareness and empowering young minds with knowledge, confidence and dignity.
