Indian Army Enhances Operational Readiness with Tank and Artillery Induction in Kashmir via Military Train

On December 16, 2025, the Indian Army marked a significant achievement in logistics by successfully introducing tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir Valley via a Military Special Train. This development is set to greatly enhance operational mobility and readiness in the area.

As part of an extensive validation exercise, the Army efficiently transported key military assets, including tanks, artillery guns, and engineering dozers, from the Jammu region to Anantnag in South Kashmir. This operation highlighted the Army’s increasing capability for rapid logistics mobilization and the swift deployment of combat equipment in difficult terrains.

The accomplishment was achieved through close collaboration with the Ministry of Railways, emphasizing the strategic significance of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. This rail corridor has become a crucial facilitator for the quick assembly of military logistics, ensuring faster, safer, and more reliable transportation of heavy equipment into the Valley.

For military strategists, the successful induction represents a transformative move in enhancing operational preparedness along India’s northern borders. It lessens the reliance on road-based logistics while improving all-weather connectivity.

This achievement highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to modernizing its logistics infrastructure, improving joint efforts with civilian agencies, and boosting strategic responsiveness in sensitive border regions.
