Indian Army Conducts Rescue Operation After Landslide Disrupts Amarnath Yatra

The Indian Army initiated an efficient rescue mission after a landslide near Z Morh on the evening of July 16 disrupted the Amarnath Yatra, leaving thousands of pilgrims stuck between Rayalpathri and Brarimarg in Jammu and Kashmir.

Despite challenging weather conditions and rough terrain, Army personnel stationed at Brarimarg responded promptly by offering emergency shelter and assistance to approximately 500 pilgrims in tents. They distributed tea and clean drinking water to those affected while relocating nearly 3,000 additional pilgrims to nearby langars, where they received food and respite from the weather.

In a significant incident, Army Quick Reaction Teams manually rescued a critically ill pilgrim stranded in a difficult location at Rayalpathri using a stretcher. The person was safely transferred to a secure spot and provided with immediate medical attention.

Army officials, including the Camp Director and Company Commander, are overseeing the area. Although light rain persists, the situation is now under control, with the Army maintaining high alert to manage any further emergencies.

This rescue operation highlights the Indian Army's ongoing humanitarian efforts during the 2025 Amarnath Yatra, focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of pilgrims traversing the challenging mountain routes.
