Indian Army and Police Initiate Operation Trashi-I in Kishtwar; Terrorists Engaged in Encounter

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, initiated Operation Trashi-I on Sunday. This operation was launched following the cornering of terrorists in the challenging forested landscape of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official reports indicated that contact was made in the Son Nar area, located northeast of Chhatru near Mandral-Singhoora. This occurred when terrorists fired upon security forces during a planned search mission. It is believed that at least three terrorists, possibly affiliated with the Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM), are trapped in the vicinity.

The White Knight Corps issued a statement noting that the troops displayed "exceptional professionalism and resolve" while operating in the rugged terrain under adverse conditions. Additional forces have been deployed to reinforce the perimeter, and the operations are proceeding in close cooperation with the civil administration and other security agencies.

Authorities have confirmed that the cordon-and-search operation is still active, with increased vigilance across the region. The encounter comes after intelligence reports suggested the presence of Pakistani terrorists in the dense forests and hilly areas across several districts in the Jammu division, including Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and Reasi.

This marks the third terrorist encounter reported in the Jammu region this year. Prior incidents were noted in the Kahog and Najote forests of the Billawar area in Kathua district on January 7 and January 13.

Security forces have called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as operations continue to mitigate the threat and ensure the safety of civilians.
